LeAnn Rimes Can't Take Heat, Gets Out of Twitter

Singer temporarily bows out of social network after haters attack in wake of paparazzi pics of mega-PDA with beau Eddie Cibrian surface online

Time to update the LeAnn Rimes-Eddie Cibrian scorecard of doom: In addition to both their spouses, a regular gig on prime-time television and, let's be honest, their reputations, LeAnn's Twitter account has become the latest casualty of the duo's scandal-plagued relationship.

For their sakes, we sure hope it's worth it.

As it happens, you (yeah, you!) weren't the only ones hating on Rimes' beachside—and childside—PDA with Cibrian over the weekend and the verbal attacks lobbed against the songbird on her Twitter page has forced her to abandon the site…but not without a few parting shots.

"Taking a break from twitter for a while," she wrote in her parting tweets. "It's unhealthy for me and my family to have to read negative comments from people who's opinions have no bearing on my life.

"I love my fans so very much and will return one day soon. God bless you all!"

Guess it's better late than never to attempt traversing the high road, right?

"I hope you understand. It's time for me to focus on healing, my happiness and my music. I can't wait to share it all with my fans soon! There's a million other ways to stay connected with my fans and I plan to focus on those! The most important, bringing you great music!"

Of course, LeAnn isn't the first celeb who couldn't hack it online. Miley Cyrus peaced out of Twitter last fall and Courtney Love and Lily Allen both temporarily called it quits on their respective pages (though they were both back with a vengeance—uh, on each other—a short while later). And if you listen to Prince, then this whole faddish internet thing is dying, anyway.

But still…what do you want to bet she has a change of Twitter heart this October? Round about the same time her album, Lady and Gentleman, is released? Call it a hunch.
