Mel Gibson Restrains Baby Mama? Or Is It the Other Way Around?

Despite reports that acrimonious duo has filed dueling restraining orders against each other, singer's attorney denies she's been served

It's probably safe to assume Mel Gibson didn't have the happiest Father's Day.

Things have taken a turn for the nasty in octo-Mel's split from baby-mama Oksana Grigorieva, as reports have surfaced that the duo filed dueling restraining orders against each other this week in the wake of a major blowup.

Which is only half true. Here's the deal:

Despite rampant reports to the contrary, Grigorieva's lawyer denied that there is any such order in place against the Russian singer.

While People reports that the papers were filed against the songbird yesterday, lawyer Manley Freid told E! News, "There is no personal restraining order against Grigorieva."

However, while it was definitively not a restraining order, a source told E! News that legal documents were filed against Oksana yesterday, most likely a type of injunction to prevent her from discussing potentially unsavory aspects of her relationship with Mel.

And while Freid is also keeping mum on whether a restraining order has been taken out against Gibson, clearly not everyone involved in the situation is keeping as quiet.

According to TMZ, the 40-year-old singer went to court on Monday to seek an emergency domestic-violence restraining order against Gibson, alleging the actor got physical and "extremely violent" with her. A judge reportedly signed off on the request, barring the actor from having any contact with Oksana, thus presumably paving the way for his reputed counter request.

Mel's camp has yet to comment on the confusing legal fray and any documents that may have been filed with the courts remain under seal.

Whatever the truth, this is just the latest in a long line of drama for the former duo.

The couple split in April, nearly six months after the birth of their daughter Lucia, and while they initially played the amicable card, it wasn't long before Grigorieva started dropping not so subtle clues that things weren't as peachy keen as Gibson's PR team would have the world believe.

"If you want to know, I can tell you that after three years of relationship, we have split up—suddenly and recently. Unfortunately, I cannot give you the reason. But you will find out everything quite soon," she said at a press conference just a week after the split announcement.

A month later, reports circulated that infidelity by Gibson was the cause of their split, though the actor's rep adamantly denied the accusation.
