UPDATES: Monica Beresford-Redman's two sisters ultimately agreed to allow Bruce's parents to assume permanent guardianship of niece Camila, 5, and nephew Alec, 3. A provision in the agreement requires that the children's father wait a year before petiitoning the court to reinstate him as full-time guardian.

Neither the Mexican nor the American courts are going to make anything easier for Bruce Beresford-Redman from here on out.

A Los Angeles judge set a Nov. 8 trial date to determine custody of the TV producer's two young children with late wife Monica Beresford-Redman, whom Mexican authorities believe he murdered while the family was vacationing in Cancun in April.

A warrant is out for Beresford-Redman's arrest in Mexico and extradition is in the works but he has not been formally charged. He has proclaimed his innocence, but his parents get to officially keep the kids for now.

Though David and Juanita Beresford-Redman were happy to return 5-year-old Camila and 3-year-old Alec to their father full-time, Monica's sisters—who have not been shy about accusing their brother-in-law of killing Monica—are seeking custody of the kids as well.

Bruce will be able to take care of his kids along with his parents at their home in Palos Verdes in the meantime.

L.A. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff anticipates that the custody trial will last approximately four and a half days.

"Things can go on for quite a long time and I want to get this matter settled—as does the family," Beckoff said in court Thursday. Beresford-Redman was not present.

A June 24 hearing has been set to discuss the children's ongoing therapy in light of their mom's death.
