Brittany Murphy Hubby's Real Heart Problem: Two Secret Kids?!

Coroner's office finds no record of visits to a cardiologist, just evidence of two kids living in Europe

Was Brittany Murphy well-informed of her hubby's past, or was she left clueless?

When he died, Simon Monjack had two children by two different women living in Europe, one in England and one in France, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

Monjack's family ties were apparently unearthed from info on his personal laptop, which investigators were searching for any record of the bypass-requiring heart problem the Murphy family's publicist said he had.

"We were trying to locate doctor information," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter tells E! News. "He had reported that he was scheduled for a triple bypass or something but we can't find any cardiologist. Even his personal doctor said he didn't know anything about it."

Autospy results were inconclusive pending the results of routine toxicology tests. Publicist Roger Neal said after Monjack died of an apparent heart attack on May 23 that he was planning to undero bypass surgery at the end of the summer.

"He said he was going to have it done in New York but we still haven't found the mystery doctor in New York," Winter said. "Family didn't know either, only that he told them he was going to have a triple bypass."

Also on the computer was evidence of large wire transfers of cash, as much as $48,000 at one time, some to lawyers and some to a person in Europe.

Winter speculated that Monjack was supporting the children overseas in some way.

But what Neal wants to know is, why is the coroner's office poking around in Monjack's personal life—other than the medical stuff, that is?

"We find it very curious that the L.A. Coroner would release information to media outlets which has nothing to do with Mr. Monjack's cause of death," Neal said in a statement to E! News.

"These claims are surprising to [Brittany's mom] Sharon Murphy, and we have no information to verify that Simon is the father of these children.

"We believe that much of what has been given to the media by those who say they were close to Monjack, is incorrect.  In reality they had very little or no relationship with him. I am sure this is just the start of much more misleading information to come."

We can only hope that's not the case.
