Charlie Sheen Facing More Court Time as Settlement Talks Heat Up

Perpetually troubled actor due for not one, but two hearings within weeks of each other in June

Now that he's worked out a deal to reup on Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen is ramping up efforts to strike a deal to make his legal woes go away.

The CBS star is due back in a Colorado courtroom June 7—a date set in addition to his already scheduled June 18 domestic violence hearing. All are in advance of his July 21 trial date.

Why the sudden need for multiple legal proceedings?

Settlement talks are ongoing between Sheen and prosecutors over the Christmas incident involving the actor and estranged wife Brooke Mueller, leading to the addition of another hearing. The actor's attorney Richard Cummins explains to The Aspen Times a second court appearance was ordered "in contemplation of a final disposition being made that's acceptable to the district attorney's office."

The sitcom star has been trying to work out a deal that would include minimal, if any, jail time. In the meantime he has pleaded not guilty to all counts—felony menacing, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief—charges that carry a maximum penalty of five years behind bars.

Sheen and Mueller are currently separated and living apart, although E! News has been told any talk of divorce is premature.
