It would have been another tragic turn of events for Mindy McCready. If it had been true. Which it wasn't. Probably.

Luckily, despite reports this morning that the country star who can't seem to catch a break was hospitalized for a possible drug overdose, the singer says no such drama unfolded.

So what did happen?

It's still unclear.

"We have no information or confirmation of the official medical diagnosis at this time," McCready's rep, Kat Atwood, said. "More information will be released as it is available."

As for the information that's already been released, Atwood says not so fast.

Brent Young, a man who has been variously identified as McCready's rep (a title refuted by Atwood), assistant and just a friend who happens to be nearby during particularly tumultuous times (so grain of salt, etc.), claims the singer suffered nothing more than a bad reaction to painkillers prescribed for a broken toe.

Young said McCready took four Darvocets, complained to her mother, Gayle Inge, whose Florida house McCready is currently staying in, and claimed her mom "overreacted" and called 911.

"It should be noted that Brent Young is not representative of Music City News Media, nor is he employed by the Mindy McCready organization," Atwood said. Touché.

Here's what we do know for sure: the fire department arrived at her mother's house this morning and the singer was subsequently taken to Cape Coral Hospital. Hospital spokeswoman Karen Krieger did not disclose why she was admitted to the emergency room, but said the 34-year-old singer was currently in good condition.

The incident caps off a tense month for the accidental porn star, who has been embroiled in a court battle (um, against her mother) seeking to regain custody of her 4-year-old son, Zander.

According to court papers released last week, McCready underwent drug and alcohol evaluations as well as psychological assessments in her bid to reunite with her son. She passed them all "with flying colors."
