Despite his health battles, Bret Michaels must be feeling pretty good right now.
The Poison frontman beat out Holly Robinson-Peete on Sunday night to become Donald Trump's newest Celebrity Apprentice. Bret flew to New York City for the live, ninth season finale despite suffering a brain hemorrhage on April 21, being hospitalized last week for a stroke and gearing up for surgery to repair a hole in his heart.
What a trooper.
The final task was to create a new drink flavor for Snapple and come up with an advertising campaign. In the end, Michaels' Trop-A-Rocka Blend outdid Robinson-Peete's Compassionberry Tea to win the $250,000 grand prize for his charity of choice, the American Diabetes Association. (Michaels is a diabetic.)
Even though she was "fired" by The Donald, Robinson-Pete still came out a winner—her charity, the HollyRod Foundation, is also receiving $250K to support those with autism. Both flavors of Snapple tea are on sale for a limited time, with proceeds going to support the celebrity charities. (The actress' son is autistic.)
Also a winner on tonight's finale: Darryl Strawberry's foundation, to which Trump gave $25,000 for Strawberry's triumphant return to the show. The former baseball star quit at the end of the third episode, but returned with Olympian Summer Sanders as a member of Michaels' team in the final competition. Celebrity chef Curtis Stone and singer Maria Kanellis were part of Team Holly.
