The universe's biggest star is once again on the hunt for some naughty E.T.s.

Will Smith has officially signed on to reunite with Tommy Lee Jones and director Barry Sonnenfeld for Men in Black 3, the third installment in the billion-dollar sci-fi comedy-action series about alien-tracking secret agents. And yes, it will be shot in 3-D.

And nothing says blockbuster like a Big Willie in three dimensions.

Columbia Pictures announced that MIB3 will hit theaters May 25, 2012. While deals are in place for Smith, Sonnenfeld and the producing team of Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, the studio said it was currently in "advanced negotiations" with Jones.

Columbia is also wooing the Oscar winner's No Country for Old Men pardner Josh Brolin to play a younger version of his Agent Kay—guess that means we can expect some kind of time-bending storyline.

Steven Spielberg is also back as executive producer, with his Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koep retooling the original script by Etan Cohen.

The original Men in Black was released in 1997 and banked $589 million in global ticket sales. The 2002 sequel also did bang-up business, tallying $441 million internationally.

Does MIB3 sound like a good idea? Or are Smith & Co. just going to mail it in for a big paycheck? Sound off in the comments or on Facebook!
