David Archuleta: About That Gay Club...

American Idol runner-up explains his Saturday-night activities and how they have nothing to do with his sexual preference

Someone won't be joining Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken in the American Idol gay runners-up club anytime soon.

David Archuleta—you know, the second banana to David Cook from season seven—may have visited a gay club in New York Saturday night, but that has nothing to do with his actual sexual preference. If you must know, it was all about supporting a friend.

"Hey guys just wanted to clear something up real quick lol. Last night in New York I got invited to go and see my friend Charice perform," the 19-year-old tweeted on Sunday. "Mental note to self: always ask where before you go! Wasn't my kind of place lol, and I had no clue! I guess you live and learn…Hope that clears things up!"

But, of course, the Twitterverse wasn't finished with the little guy yet, presumably filling his @ replies with more assumptions and accusations.

"Been seeing some of the tweets. sheesh! Can get crazy quick," he said. "NO worries all, I wouldn't get into things like that intentionally haha…Charice is great and she didn't mean to do cause any harm haha. She apologized a lot after."

You can only imagine the finger-pointing that followed. The kiddo handles it with gusto.

"I have friends who are gay, and they're great people. Whether they're gay or not doesn't change how I think of them," he responded on Monday morning. "I have nothing against anyone, I'm sorry if that's how it came across. I'm just not into the partying scene lol."

Now we call that refreshing. When was the last time you heard of a 19-year-old celeb—gay or otherwise—who wasn't into partying?
