It appears not everyone is in the mood to fly a Tiger-teasing flag over the Masters course.

Jim Carrey took a stand for Tiger Woods and his purportedly tawdry behavior via Twitter…and he wasn't joking.

The funnyman came to Woods' defense Wednesday after Masters Chairman Billy Payne criticized the embattled golfer for his "false sense of superiority," tweeting, "I made a Tiger joke today, but after listening 2 Payne's speech I think it's time we checked our collective EGO and let the guy play!"

Carrey went on to say that while Woods was "wrong" for behaving badly, his wife, Elin Nordegren, was partly to blame for the sports star's indiscretions.

"No wife is blind enough to miss that much infidelity," Carrey wrote. "Elin had 2 b a willing participant on the ride 4 whatever reason. Kids/lifestyle."

After Carrey's candid comments sent followers into a tizzy, the Yes Man star tried to make amends by replying, " I want 2 make it CLEAR that I do not condone infidelity at all, but 2 some degree the responsibility 4 it is shared by both people."

But not even that helped undo the stew the comedic star had already stirred up.

"My people called and said I might have to tame my tweets a little. So here goes…I'm going to make a sandwich now. Peanut butter. (sigh)," Carrey later wrote.

Carrey's Tiger-themed Twitter rant comes just days after he and longtime love Jenny McCarthy announced their split. On Saturday evening, he asked followers to "cut [him] some slack" for his comments, tweeting that he was "a little on edge."
