JOHN MACDOUGALL/AFP/Getty ImagesUPDATE: He may still be on the hook for robbery, but on May 24, 2010, a Connecticut judge dismissed a lingering drunken-driving charge against the actor in the wake of his successful completion of a court-ordered alcohol-education program.
As for the robbery, on July 13, 2010, Torn applied to an accelerated probation program that would see his charges dismissed after completion. Prosecutors say they will formally oppose the request at his next hearing Aug. 11.

Rip Torn may be a drunk, but he's no armed robber, dammit.
The 30 Rocker pleaded not guilty to burglary and weapons charges resulting from his January bust for breaking into a Connecticut bank after hours with a loaded revolver.
The 79-year-old Torn entered his plea this morning before Litchfield Superior Court Judge James P. Ginnochio, who allowed the actor to remain free on $100,000 bond so long as he doesn't drink.
Because that's when things often go bad fast for the actor...
Torn got into this mess Jan. 29, when cops discovered he had broken into the Litchfield Bancorp branch in Salisbury, Conn., with a loaded gun. After the Men in Black star was taken into custody, he claimed he mistakenly thought he was actually at his home nearby, according to police.
The Emmy winner—who has a history of booze-fueled arrests dating back to a pair of DUIs in New York and his home state back in 2004—did not address the court other than to profess his innocence. He faces one count each of first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass, criminal mischief, carrying a firearm without a permit and carrying a gun while intoxicated.
A pretrial hearing has been set for April 27.
After the hearing, Torn attorney A. Thomas Waterfall told reporters that his client was now sober after a successful stint in rehab and is now receiving outpatient treatment.
