Queens gym teacher fired after roughing up Jersey Shore resident

The hammer just came down on Brad Ferro, the New York gym coach who clocked Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi in the face during filming of MTV's Jersey Shore.

"The department is in the process of taking termination action against Mr. Ferro," Anne Forte, spokeswoman for the New York City Department of Education, tells E! News.

Ferro, a 24-year-old nontenured teacher at North Queens Community High School, was on Aug. 19 in Seaside Heights, N.J., for roughing up the self-proclaimed guidette during a drinking session at a local bar.

You could say it's one situation this guy wishes he never got involved with.

While MTV initially planned to air the footage (tastefully accompanied by an appropriately serious PSA, of course), network execs decided to shelve the idea following criticism of spots promoting the incident.

Ferro was eventually convicted of assault, fined $500 and handed a six-month suspended sentence.

Per school policy, he was removed from the classroom and sent to a "rubber room"—essentially a separate office space for teachers facing possible disciplinary action—until his case could be adjudicated.

Ferro has not received his termination notice as of press time. But once he does, he'll have 30 days to pack his things and leave.

Who knows, maybe MTV has an opening on the new reality show Queens Meatheads.
