Roman Polanski's latest movie might be released before he is.

The Oscar-winning director remains under house arrest in Gstaad, Switzerland, awaiting possible extradition to the U.S. for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in 1977. And while he waits for a decision, his latest film, The Ghost Writer, will be hitting theaters on Feb. 19.

The political thriller stars Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Wilkinson and Kim Cattrall.

Considerably less thrilling is Polanski's wait. While we're at the movies, the 76-year-old is writing thank-you notes to well-wishers as he passes the time until his Jan. 22 hearing, which may determine whether or not he'll be sentenced long-distance or if he'll be extradited back to the United States.

________

Did someone say Ewan McGregor?! He's handsome. We wish we had the opportunity to write about him more often. Well, there's always this.
