Robert Downey Jr. is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly to promote his upcoming movie, Sherlock Holmes ("Holmes for the Holiday!"), and he admits he's torn between having a life and acting.

On one hand, he wants to hang out with his wife and go see movies:

"I have no set plans for my future," Downey says. "I've never had it this good—this is my day in the sun—and I certainly don’t want to look a gift horse in the molars. But Susan [Downey, his wife] and I want to begin to be in our lives as much as we are in our jobs."

But on the other hand, he's, like, really good at acting and doesn't want to deprive the world of his greatness:

"I'm f--king really good at what I do—and have been for a long time, so I don't waver on that," he says. "But here's the thing: I can only be a guy on a call sheet probably, I don't know, maybe a couple more times.  It's something I'm so grateful to have in my palm, and yet I already see its inevitable decay."

So poetic. But the decay hasn't started just yet, as RDJ has Iron Man 2 coming out this summer, Sherlock 2 will probably be made, The Avengers is out 2011, somewhere he'll fit Steven Spielberg's Harvey remake into his schedule, and then there will probably be Iron Man 3, Avengers 2, Sherlock 8 and Iron Man 11.

This way he doesn't really have to make a decision about whether to quit or not for a while. Plus, we all know actors love to say they're quitting so we can all say "Noooooo!" and then they feel good about themselves.
