This Is Thriller, Thriller Night...Worldwide!
Halloween came early this year for Michael Jackson fans.
Mere days before the release of his highly anticipated film, This Is It, King of Pop devotees gathered around the globe Saturday night to participate in a dance-a-thon of sorts known as "Thrill the World."
Over 6,000 enthusiastic fans gathered at Los Angeles hot spot L.A. Live to take part in the global attempt to break the world record of most people simultaneously dancing the routine to Jackson's seasonally on-point classic, "Thriller."
M.J. impersonators and the overzealous "living dead" whipped out some of their best moves alongside dancers from the upcoming big-screen release, who were on hand to emcee the event. Miley Cyrus BFF Mandy Jiroux and Dancing With the Stars groover Chuck Liddell were also there to support the ambitious undertaking.
"Thrill the World" kicked off at 5:30 p.m. in local cities, as well as 37 countries around the globe. Numbers are still being tabulated, but Saturday's thrilling boogie-down moment is expected to top the previous record, set by 13,597 people in Mexico City Aug. 29, on what would have been Jackson's 51st birthday.
