Police are hoping the computer owned by Ryan Jenkins may unlock the motive behind the murder of his model-wife and his eventual suicide last month.

Buena Park, Calif., police spokeswoman Lt. Robin Sells tells E! News that the department's CSI team is examining an "image of the hard drive" obtained from Canadian authorities, who retrieved it from the British Columbia motel room where the Megan Wants a Millionaire star hanged himself on Aug. 23. That was nearly a week after Jenkins reported his missus, Jasmine Fiore, missing and then went on the lam.

"We're waiting for results on the computer from forensics people, who will have to go through it and analyze it," Sells said. "We just want to make sure we've done a completely thorough investigation."

Fiore's nude, mutilated body was found eight days earlier stuffed in a suitcase in a Buena Park trash bin, her fingers and teeth missing to hinder identification.

Sells couldn't comment on the contents of the computer data, but she said detectives hope it will provide clues as to what led to the killing so they can close the books on the probe, since the 32-year-old Jenkins declined to help by leaving any sort of suicide note.

It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.
