What a weekend for New Yorkers!

With the MTV Video Music Awards, Fashion Week, the U.S. Open and all the star-studded parties that come with them, so much fun stuff went down.

Let's start with the leggy.

Newly separated (again!) Sean Penn stepped out with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White to celebrate fellow catwalker Noemie Lenoir's birthday at new hot spot Abe & Arthur's on Saturday night.

The following evening, Jay-Z's sleek VMAs afterparty took over 1Oak and included guests from Rihanna and Beyoncé to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba.

Outside, however, things took a dustier turn when Diddy had a "misunderstanding," as his rep tells E! News, with some cops. Worry not, the NYPD says no arrests were made, and all related parties seem to think the situation was "blown out of proportion."

Elsewhere...

Saturday night was the big bash for The Beautiful Life at the Simyone Lounge. Producer Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore came to toast the new CW show, as did Amanda Bynes, Lo Bosworth, Molly Sims and Gerard Butler. Castmembers Mischa Barton, Corbin Bleu, Nico Tortorella, Ben Hollingsworth and Sara Paxton also turned out.

We caught up with Sara, who couldn't have partied too hard given her nasty cold, and Nico earlier Saturday. Both were feeling the pressure after the Vampire Diaries' huge success.

"It's a big number, I don't know. I hope to get anywhere near close to there," Sara told E! News exclusively at the Youareonthelist.com VMAs gifting suite at the Pierre, where they picked up some Frontaura wines and SalonTeas.

"It'll be a little competition," Nico told us. "I don't know—vampires are hot right now. I don't know how much we can compete with that, but we're hoping for some big numbers."

Across our wheelhouse...

We watched as Amanda Bynes and Hilary Duff—the latter-day Miranda Cosgrove and Selena Gomez in tween-star-speak, for you younger readers—bonded over the Herve Leger dresses Sunday under the tents at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Project Runway alum Christian Siriano also showed off his wares this weekend, and Tim Gunn paid him the ultimate in fashion compliments.

"Christian is, and I don't say this lightly, he is his generation's Marc Jacobs," he told E! News.

Third Rock from the Sun star Kristen Johnston arrived at Siriano's show and was ecstatic when the designer's mother introduced herself.

"Oh my gosh, the woman who spawned that talent," the actress exclaimed before asking for a photo.

Afterward, E! News overheard her telling Gunn, with whom she sat and caucused throughout the show, that she wishes she could sit by his side at every show.

Wouldn't that be nice?
