What really got folks buzzing at the MTV Video Music Awards last night was Kristen Stewart's seemingly shorter 'do. It immediately took center stage as she, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner introduced an extended first look at New Moon.

But alas, the starlet's rep has confirmed that this latest hairstyle was just the work of some well-placed pins and nothing more…

Apparently K.Stew felt the Joan Jett mullet she's been sporting lately wouldn't complement her Valentino dress as well as it does, say, a so-tight-they-make-you-fall-down pair of leather pants.

But what say you? Should Kristen actually take scissors to scalp? Then again, she could always just wear wigs.
