Sly Rams Another Rambo Down Moviegoers' Throats

Sylvester Stallone, Rambo Lionsgate

You can't keep a good overextended franchise down.

The quintessential mulleted badass is back, with Sylvester Stallone officially getting the green light for a fifth Rambo.

Sly will, per usual, both star in and direct the installment next spring, which will follow John Rambo as he no doubt ultra-violently dispenses of human traffickers and drug lords to save a girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexican border.

As Stallone has made no secret of the fact that he'd like to revisit his bandanna-donning renegade, confirmation of a fifth Rambo was more a matter of when than if. (That last year's outing grossed more than twice its budget couldn't have hurt.)

In other Hollywood-is-officially-out-of-ideas news, Bad Boys 3 also got the go-ahead over the weekend, though Will Smith, Martin Lawrence and filmmaker punch line Michael Bay are not yet attached.

Eh, whatchu gonna do?
