Michael J. Fox: Is There Anything He Can't Do?

There really is no stopping Michael J. Fox.

Not only is he nominated for two Emmys this year—one for his guest work on Rescue Me and the other for his ABC special, Michael J. Fox: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist—but he's also writing another book…

"It's advice to graduates from a high school dropout," Fox told me Saturday at the HollyRod Foundation's DesignCare benefit, where he was given the Matthew T. Robinson Courage Award.

He laughed, "By its very definition, it will be a short book."

Fox's latest book, Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist, was released in March and was the springboard for the television special.

As for the Emmys, Fox joked, "It feels like 1986."

Despite the recent TV successes, Fox said he's not exactly on the hunt for screen time.

"It's always someone like [Rescue Me star and cocreator] Denis Leary calling me up and saying, 'No one else will do it. Will you do it?' And then I just say yes," he said. "That's the way it generally works. I don't go out and campaign for these things."
