Sarah Jessica Parker Surrogate Plot Foiled?

Two Ohio police chiefs are under investigation for allegedly breaking into a home owned by SJP's surrogate mom

To put it in TV show terms, this case is Sex and the City meets Law & Order.

Two Ohio police chiefs are under investigation for a plot involving the surrogate carrying the twins of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

The peace officers allegedly masterminded a break-in of the surrogate's home in a bid to dig up dirt they hoped to sell to the tabloids.

Harrison County prosecutor Shawn Hervey tells E! News that he has been appointed to oversee a probe in the town of Martins Ferry. But he declined to say whether it concerned the surrogate plot since he has yet to receive any paperwork.

But a law enforcement source says that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation will look into allegations that Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Chief Chad DoJack orchestrated the home-invasion scheme for a private windfall.

Per local station WTRF-TV, the unidentified surrogate no longer lives in the Martins Ferry residence, though it's unclear if she moved because of the break-in or other reasons, like the paparazzi and tabloid reporters staking out her home.

Both Parker and Broderick have complained vociferously about the feeding frenzy over the woman, claiming she's repeatedly been harassed and her phone and personal computer have been hacked.

"Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system," Broderick's publicist, Simon Hall, says in a statement to E! News. "But because it's a criminal investigation—we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer."
