You'd think all the stars of True Blood would have checked out Twilight by now.

"I haven't seen it," Sam Trammell, who plays bar owner Sam Merlotte on HBO's hit vampire series, tells me. "I haven't read the books. I should though, just so I can answer questions about it."

Not that True Blood's and Twilight's audiences completely overlap. "The sense I get is Twilight is PG and ours is bordering on NC-17," Trammell says.

No doubt about that...

As Anna Paquin told me the other day, the new second season of True Blood gets even more risqué than the first. However, producers have everyone on a short leash when it comes to revealing too much of upcoming episodes.

Trammell hints that things are going to get wild between his character and the mysterious Maryann (Michelle Forbes).

"She's very nice and pretends to be good, but I'm definitely facing off with her through most of the season," he says. "Her whole MO is totally batty and insane. I mean, really crazy."

Whether or not that includes some of the series' signature wild sex scenes, Trammell won't say. But he did say that everyone feels the pressure to stay more than just fit during filming because they never know when they'll be asked to shed their clothes.

"I definitely have to stay in good shape, but I don't even try to compete with Ryan Kwanten," Trammell says with a laugh. "I recently had to do a scene with my shirt off, and Ryan had his shirt off in the same scene. It doesn't feel great. No matter how good of shape you are in, you're going to look bad."
