Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal to Do Drugs?
Focus Features
First comes marriage, then comes Viagra.
After playing an unhappily married couple in Brokeback Mountain, Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks to reteam for Love and Other Drugs. The flick is director Ed Zwick's adaptation of Jamie Reidy's delightfully titled nonfiction book Hard Sell: Confessions of a Viagra Salesman, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Gyllenhaal would play a role based on Reidy, a Pfizer drug rep who romances a Parkinson's patient played by Hathaway.
Sex, drugs and beautiful stars? Sounds great. But if the film lasts more than four hours, somebody better call a doctor.
And who is Julia Roberts about to devour?
• Roberts plans to Eat, Pray, Love with Javier Bardem, and who can really blame her? If you were going to devour a star, you could do worse than the pulchritudinous actor. According to Variety, the Oscar winners would play the leads in the Brad Pitt-produced adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's mega-selling memoir about a divorcee who seeks enlightenment and finds a hunky guy in the process.
• Masi Oka is already a Hero to nerds, but now he could just be a superhero. Dreamworks is making The Defenders, a family adventure story the actor dreamt up about a group of gamers who must step up and be as heroic as their online avatars, per The Hollywood Reporter.
• Neil Patrick Harris rocked the Tony Awards, and now he has a double-feature in the works. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the How I Met Your Mother star will spend his TV hiatus starring in The Best and the Brightest, a comedy about parents' competing to get their kids into New York City's best kindergartens, as well as playing the role of a blind tutor in Beastly, the Beauty and the Beast update starring Vanessa Hudgens.
