Scarlett Johansson's New Hookup: Pete Yorn

Scarlett Johansson, Pete Yorn, Album Cover

Singer-songwriter Pete Yorn probably didn't foresee Scarlett Johansson's marriage to Ryan Reynolds when he first approached her about a duets album in 2006. At that point, her love for Tom Waits hadn't yet been mocked or even made public—she was just another curvy starlet looking to break into the music biz.

Together, Johansson and Yorn (who has wooed the likes of Winona Ryder and Minnie Driver) put down nine duets they kept to themselves until now.

With all that's happened since—a wedding and an album sales stinker—the respected crooner and the actress are releasing Break Up on Sept. 8.

"I was having a strange week of insomnia, and when I finally passed out, it came to me in a dream," Yorn says in a statement. "I woke up, and the whole thing was in my head, fully formed."

"It sounded like an interesting little adventure," Johansson explains in the press release. "The idea of two people vocalizing their relationship through duets…I always thought of it as just a small project between friends. It perfectly captured where I was in my life at the time."

"Relator," the first track on the "hook-filled song cycle about a tempestuous relationship," can be heard here now.
