Trying to keep a promise to gravely ill mom Farrah Fawcett, Redmond O'Neal has taken another step toward straightening out and cleaning up.

After spending almost a month in a downtown Los Angeles lockup, the drug-addicted son of the cancer-stricken Charlie's Angels star and Ryan O'Neal has been transferred to another jail specializing in hard-core rehab.

The move came after a judge determined that the younger O'Neal couldn't enter a private drug-treatment facility, according to L.A. sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

O'Neal, 24, will spend 18 months in the new jail, which will provide a strict regimen of daily activities including group counseling, drug testing and educational programs.
