Sarah Jessica Parker Gets Motherly Over Surrogate's Safety

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are used to putting up with paparazzi and tabloids. But when it comes to the surrogate carrying their twins, the Sex and the City star is fighting mad.

"I am incredibly outraged by the sort of extraordinary and unprecedented invasion of her privacy," Parker tells Access Hollywood.

"The most unsavory things have been done. She’s had her phone hacked, her personal computer information hacked; she's had threats against her and true harassment...she's had friends threatened and family threatened, and she's had family of friends threatened."

Parker's ire seems directed at Star magazine, which ran personal information of the surrogate. The magazine has defended itself, saying all the details were gleaned from the woman's publicly accessible MySpace page.

Asked by Access how the surrogate is holding up, Parker responds, "She is [OK] today, but she’s had a bad week in the very recent past...You understand what stress, worry and fear and being scared can do? She's quite far along in this pregnancy and she's carrying two children...There's simply no excuse for doing this to somebody. It's not acceptable."

The 44-year-old actress and fashion plate says the feeding frenzy has even spilled over, accusing paparazzi of chasing the surrogate’s friend who’s nine months pregnant.

Parker staunchly defends her surrogate from insinuations in the press that she's unfit to carry the children to term because she's a stated bisexual, has tattoos and is a self-described rocker chick.

"I'm beyond comfortable with who she is," she says.

"Obviously there are those that don't care about her, or her health, or safety, or my children's health and safety, and that they should go to term and not go into an early labor and, God forbid, suffer all the things that can happen—that is a real possibility."
