Protecting Britney Spears is apparently no day at the circus.

So says a former bodyguard who claims in a new lawsuit that he's been injured—both physically and psychologically—during his tenure providing security for the pop princess.

Per the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, security guard Kerry Vine alleges Spears "negligently operated her home and business thereby causing injuries to [him]" and her "extreme/outrageous conduct intentionally and or recklessly caused [him] severe emotional distress."

While he doesn't elaborate on the details of his dings in his court docs, he does calculate that he's due money to cover hospital and medical bills, as well as lost wages and other expenses.

Lawyers for Spears' camp were unavailable for comment.

Vine also names his former employer Advanced Security Concepts for assigning him a job that put him in danger.

Last week, court documents showed that the "Womanizer" singer shelled out more than $447,000 for a 24/7 security detail from Feb. 2 to Dec. 31, 2008.

Spears is getting ready to launch the monthlong European leg of her Circus tour June 2 in London. She's also due to play dates in Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Warsaw and Berlin.
