New Line has recruited a veritable who's who of Hollywood to star in the Garry Marshall-directed rom-com Valentine's Day.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marshall will reteam with his erstwhile Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts, along with an ensemble that includes Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher and Shirley MacLaine.
The film will follow five overlapping stories and all take place on Hallmark's Cupid's holiday in Los Angeles.
Some of the storylines already penciled in for the big-screen bonanza: Roberts plays an Army officer on leave from Iraq who strikes up a conversation with Cooper, whose boyfriend is a closeted football player; Kutcher owns a flower shop and plans on proposing to girlfriend Alba, only to discover he's in love with best pal Garner; Hathaway is an agent's assistant who's dating the mail boy; and Biel tries her hand as an unlucky-in-love publicist.
As if that weren't enough star power for you, Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Dermot Mulroney, Simon Baker, Joss Stone, Kevin Costner, Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth and Michael Madsen round out the day's castings...
• Well, this explains all those paparazzi shots. Indie dream team Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are teaming up to star in Blue Valentine. Per Variety, the duo plays a couple whose marriage is falling apart and who think back to better times.
• Joss Stone is returning to The Tudors for the Showtime hit's fourth and final season, per the Hollywood Reporter, reprising her role as the fugly (but head-retaining) Anne of Cleves.
• Simon Baker's next career move is anything but mental. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Mentalist star has signed on to the cast of Michael Winterbottom's The Killer Inside Me, joining Casey Affleck in the adaptation centering on the transformation of a small-town cop into a ruthless killer. Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson also star.
• Kevin Costner is going west once more. Per the Hollywood Reporter, the actor is developing a four-hour TV movie for A&E. The as-yet-untitled miniseries will be set in the post-Civil War West. Costner may also appear in and direct one of the installments, pending a final script.
• It's a Hedy time to be Rachel Weisz. The actress is tentatively set to star as MGM icon Hedy Lamarr in Face Value, a biopic of the Old Hollywood star. Per the Hollywood Reporter, the film will focus more on her lesser-known second career as a scientist who helped create frequency-hopping than her 1940s movie stardom.
• Dermot Mulroney is set to make his directorial debut in Keep It Together, per the Hollywood Reporter, a family dramedy centering on a newlywed marriage counselor who returns from her honeymoon to discover that her seemingly stable parents are getting a divorce. Christopher Walken and Blythe Danner are in talks to play the separating couple.
• Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth are bringing darkness to the Great White Way. The Broadway legends are set to star as Gomez and Morticia in a new production of The Addams Family, set to open April 8, 2010.
• Michael Madsen has nabbed himself a killer role. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor is set to star alongside Rachel Hunter in Nictophobia, a horror thriller that follows a murderer as he terrorizes a trio of real-estate developers.
