Nic Cage Flick Cursed? Sorcerer's Suffers Another Mishap

This Sorcerer's Apprentice could use an exorcist.

Two days after one of its stunt vehicles plowed into a pizza parlor in Manhattan and dinged a couple of bystanders, the new Nicolas Cage movie suffered another accident early this morning after a car jumped a curb and took out nine crew members.

The latest mishap again occurred in Times Square during the wee hours, this time around 3:45 a.m. According to a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department, an SUV driver swerved to miss a taxi  and slammed into a parked car. That vehicle in turn was pushed into production staffers huddled under the  Mamma Mia! marquee at the Winter Garden Theater.

There were no serious injuries and all the victims are expected to make a full recovery.

Because the crash had no connection with the actual film and the crew members were OK, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films declined to comment and referred all questions to NYPD. The police are investigating but have so far ruled it an accident—presumably, as opposed to some kind of curse.

Meanwhile, at least one person involved in Monday's accident is lawyering up. A woman who was injured when a stunt Ferrari lost control has reportedly hired an attorney to work on a lawsuit. She was one of two people hurt in the earlier accident, but neither seriously.

A live-action tale inspired by Disney's classic cartoon segment in Fantasia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice stars Cage as a wizard who recruits a college student to run his workshop only to encounter trouble and adventure along the way. It's scheduled to unspool in summer 2010.
