Rate-a-Trailer: G.I. Joe Goes Boom!

Overconfident villain with a European accent and a leather-clad henchmistress standing behind him? Check. Immolation of an international landmark, to prove how serious the global threat is? Check. A very concerned-looking Dennis Quaid? Check.

This—plus a slew of explosions (so pretty, like watercolor paintings!), fight sequences and action of various Matrix-inspired velocities—is what Paramount Pictures has to show us so far of what our real American heroes are up to in the intended franchise-starter G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

All your fave action figures are accounted for: Quaid taking command as the steel-jawed General Hawk, Channing Tatum as Duke, Marlon Wayans as Ripcord and Rachel Nichols as Scarlett versus the baddies of Cobra. Former child star Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Cobra Commander and Sienna Miller is lady villain The Baroness.

Destro (Christopher Eccleston) is out to nuke...well, everything, pretty much, and it's up to our delish boys—and girl—in Delta 6 Accelerator Suits to take him down.

And to keep the fanboys happy, Snake Eyes squares off against Storm Shadow.

From the looks of it, will The Rise of Cobra rise to the occasion on Aug. 7?
