Blair Waldorf is taking a break from her Chuck-or-Nate dramas to sing us a few ditties.

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, who's been plotting to launch a music career for a while now, has signed with Universal Republic records. Her debut album will launch in the fall, the label announced today.

The 23-year-old released a cover of Kim Carnes' "Bette Davis Eyes" earlier this month and has been hanging out with heavyweight producers Polow Da Don, Harvey Mason Jr., and Spencer Nezey in the recording studio since March. Her vocal stylings are being touted as "electro-pop edge."

Just who she'll be serenading with those tracks remains to be seen.
