At Least Anoop, Lil Rounds Had Our Undivided Attention…

American Idol, Anoop Desai, Lil Rounds Michael Becker/FOX

On a night of slim prime-time pickings, American Idol was its usual fat self, averaging 23.3 million, per preliminary Nielsen data, for Anoop Desai's and Lil Rounds' disco swan songs.

In a Nielsen twist, Idol was up compared to last year's like eviction show (23.2 million) but down compared to last week's (24.1 million).

Elsewhere Wednesday:

Brazil agreed with America's Next Top Model (4 million). The catwalking competition ruled the 8 p.m. hour in women 18-34 and topped CBS' sitcom reruns and ABC's dying comedies in grownups 18-49.

Criminal Minds aired a new episode at 10 p.m. People called the neighbors, woke the kids, excitement and strong numbers ensued: 13.5 million viewers.

This is the kind of sad night it was: A Lost clip show (6.6 million) was the night's third-biggest program among demographically desirable adults, after Idol and Criminal Minds.

The above item means that, yes, among viewers Fox really covets, i.e., those all-important 18- to 49-year-olds, an all-new Lie to Me fared worse than the all-old Lost. Overall, the Tim Roth series scored 7.9 million.
