Disco Fever Doesn't Heat Up American Idol
Michael Becker / FOX
Lil Rounds' karaoke didn't inspire Simon Cowell. Or American Idol fans, either, apparently.
Hit-and-really miss disco night scored 23.2 million viewers, per preliminary Nielsen data, enough to thoroughly dominate the Tuesday competition (what there was of it), but down about 1 million sets of ears from last week's performance show.
Elsewhere in last night's ratings:
• Lawrence Taylor's dismissal from Dancing With the Stars (14.5 million) was the biggest thing going at 9 p.m. The show, though, was down a bit from last week.
• Compared to last week, Fringe (10.5 million), The Biggest Loser (9.3 million), The Unusuals (6.3 million) and 90210 (2.2 million) were all up.
• At 8 p.m., Reaper (2.5 million) wasn't only on the rise, it was the demographic equal of According to Jim (3.7 million). This is not to say Reaper had much of a rating among adults 18-49. It's to say According to Jim had a really, really sad one.
• NCIS and The Mentalist basically had the night off. Both aired reruns (and aired them outside their usual time slots).
