Rascal Flatts Too Unstoppable for Miley Cyrus

Despite a monster box-office weekend, Miley Cyrus isn't quite ready to rule all of Hollywood, thanks to Rascal Flatts.

The country trio's Unstoppable lived up to its title, fending off a surging Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack to secure a No. 1 bow. The film's debut doubled Hannah Montana soundtrack sales, but that wasn't enough to deny Rascal Flatts' latest, which sold 351,000 to the soundtrack's 196,000, per Nielsen SoundScan numbers.

Rascal Flatts now claims four chart-topping albums this side of Y2K, the most by any group. Unstoppable also registered the second biggest bow so far this year, trailing only U2's No Line on the Horizon (484,000 copies), and the biggest country music open since Taylor Swift's Fearless (592,000) last November.

Cyrus, meanwhile, has her own bragging rights...

While the soundtrack matched its previous chart high at No. 2, it reached a new sales peak, moving 57,000 more discs than it did in its debut two weeks ago. Miley also earned family bragging rights by walloping Papa Cyrus, whose Back to Tennessee sold 41,000 copies at No. 41. Billy Ray also stars in the Hannah Montana film and contributed to the soundtrack. (Rascal Flatts also has a song on Hannah Montana.)

Overall, it was a big week for country artists thanks to a sales boost from the Academy of Country Music Awards. Jason Aldean's Wide Open sold 109,000 copies at No. 4, while Swift saw a twofold sales increase propel Fearless four spots to No. 6. Keith Urban's Defying Gravity, which topped last week's chart, landed at No. 7 to give country music five of the week's Top 10 albums.

One artist who certainly did not appear at the ACM Awards, rapper Jadakiss, scored the week's only noncountry Top 10 debut with The Last Kiss smooching up 135,000 copies at No. 3.

Other noteworthy debuts included MercyMe's hits collection 10 at No. 18, Neil Young's Fork in the Road at No. 19, MIMS' Guilt at No. 53, the Dove's Kingdom of Rust at No. 88, the Hold Steady's A Positive Rage at No. 139 and Bat for Lashes' Two Suns at No. 140.

Total sales were up 10 percent from last week and 6 percent compared to the same week in 2008.
