The only shuffle Shawn Johnson's alleged stalker will be partaking in is the one that ends in a courtroom.
The 34-year-old Florida man who was caught Tuesday night hopping a fence outside the Dancing With the Stars studio in an attempt to meet the Olympic gymnast pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
At today's arraignment, Robert Michael O'Ryan's public defender requested that the media be removed from the courtroom because of his client's disheveled appearance, but the judge refused.
"We can't all look how we want to when we come to court. You're just concerned about his hair?" Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kristi Lousteau replied, referring to O'Ryan's long brown hair.
After he entered his plea, Lousteau bumped O'Ryan's bail from $35,000 bail to $220,000 at the request of the L.A. District Attorney's Office.
Should he make bail, he has been ordered not to annoy or harass anyone and to stay at least 500 feet away from Johnson and CBS Studios.
Johnson obtained a temporary restraining order yesterday protecting her, her parents and her dance partner, Mark Ballas.
O'Ryan was busted outside CBS Studios, where the hot-stepping reality show is shot, after security spotted him trying to jump a fence onto the lot. Upon being taken into custody, he told police that he had packed up all his belongings and left his life in Florida to be with the 17-year-old Johnson.
In addition to two guns, cops found duct tape, zip ties and a map in O'Ryan's car, as well as love letters to and press clippings of Johnson.
If convicted, O'Ryan faces up to four years in state prison. His next court date is April 27.
"Shawn feels very comforted by how quickly and effectively everyone has reponded," Johnson's attorney, Philip Cohen, told reporters after the arraignment.
He wouldn't go into detail about any of the alleged evidence against O'Ryan, but he did confirm that "everything has been handed over to the DA's office and the LAPD."
As for Johnson: "She has security," Cohen said.
