Things Are Looking Up...: Compared to last week, last night's American Idol results show beefed up by about 1.5 million viewers—from 20.5 million to 22.5 million, per preliminary Nielsen estimates.

...Provided You Don't Look Too Far Down: Compared to last year, which, granted, isn't fair to any TV show, Idol was down by about, oh, um, well, 6 million.

Just Keep Going Forward, Even When You're Going Backward: The time-traveling Lost (10.6 million, likewise up from last week, likewise down when compared to its former self) put up the best 18-49 demo rating for a drama series of the week to date.

History Is Slimming: From 8 to 10 p.m., the season premiere of America's Next Top Model averaged 3.9 million viewers overall—a blockbuster number for today's CW, although not for yesteryear's Tyra Banks franchise—and ran second among women 18-34.

Knight Rider, We Hardly Knew Ye: In the 8 p.m. hour, the NBC revamp (5.8 million) rode off into the sunset with a (very, very distant) second-place finish in the 18-49 demo.

When You Put It That Way, It Still Doesn't Look Good: A year ago, Moment of Truth scored 15 million viewers in Fox's post-Idol time slot. Last night, Lie to Me settled for 10.2 million, but actually did a better job holding onto Idol viewers, losing "only" 12.3 million versus the 13.3 million squandered by Moment.
