Jennifer Hudson: "I'm in a Very Good Place"

Fresh off wowing the crowds at the Super Bowl and picking up her first Grammy Award, Jennifer Hudson continued her professional comeback today with a stop on Oprah Winfrey's couch.

Although there was no specific mention of Hudson's family tragedy last fall (Winfrey attended the Chicago funeral for the Oscar winner's mother, brother and nephew), Hudson did open up about how she's feeling after several turbulent months.

"I'm good," she said. "I'm really good. I'm just glad to be back and be back to working and just doing what I love to do...I'm in a very good place."

Her renewed mood was owed in part, she said, to her resurgence on the national stage, saying that performing for her is "like therapy," despite any nerves that may go along with performing on, say, the biggest television event of the year.

Of her Super Bowl national anthem, Hudson said there "was too much going on for me to take it in."

"It's just like, I'm glad I made it to the end of the song. That's how I am. OK, I got this now, I'm home. I'm going home now."

Also providing a needed recent boost was her Grammy win for Best R&B album earlier this month. Whitney Houston was on hand to present her with the honor, something she said "almost surpassed winning" the award itself.

"As soon as she stepped out on the stage, I lost it. That's when I got emotional."

After the brief live interview, the 27-year-old singer, who said she prays "every morning," took to the stage to perform her new single, "If This Isn't Love."

Hudson is set to embark on a multicity tour this spring, coheadlining with fellow R&B star Robin Thicke.
