A-List Secrets: Yes, Stars Really Love Themselves

Kanye West Arnold Turner/WireImage.com

Do most (if not all) celebrities think they are better than normal people?
—T. Lucas, Toledo, OH

Certainly not. Kanye West just likes to refer to himself as the new Kurt Cobain and "one of the more important people in pop culture" to see if you're listening. He really hates himself and thinks he's fat and wears those candy-colored polo shirts to punish himself.

Of course celebrities think they're better than everybody else. And before you decide that's just an opinion, I've got real proof. Read on.

Celebrities are narcissists, and that's backed up by science and doctors and everything.

A study released a few years ago by none other than Dr. Drew Pinsky concludes that, compared with the average person, celebrities are more in love with themselves. They also crave attention, think way too highly of their abilities, lack empathy and can display erratic behavior, according to the standard definition of narcissism.

Pinsky made the conclusion after examining 200 celebrities who visited him on his Loveline radio show. During breaks in taping, he administered a well-respected test called the Narcissistic Personality Inventory.

For the record, Pinsky has said that the Biz doesn't turn people into freaks. The freaks seek out the Biz.

"People who need to become celebrities, actors, whatever it might be, do tend to have higher incidence of personality problems in the narcissistic spectrum," Pinsky told Anderson Cooper recently.

Which would explain why only Diddy can throw, as he once called it, the "greatest party of all time." Obviously, he's never been to my place.
