At least one vodka company enjoys its product on the Rockys—er, rocks.

Russian vodka producer Synergy has enlisted the shilling help of Sylvester Stallone, signing the action star up for a one-year contract to appear in print and TV ads for their Russian Ice, or Russkiy Liod, line of tipple beginning Sept. 1.

Though the deal's worth has not been officially disclosed, the endorsement is said to have cost the company roughly $1 million.

The star's visage will grace the alcohol's ads along with the product's Stallone-centric slogan: "There is a bit of Russian in all of us."

"The advertising campaign concept was based on the fact that the actor has Russian roots," Synergy explained in a statement.

As it happens, Stallone's great-grandmother, Rosa Rabinovich, hails from the Ukranian town of Odessa.

While both the Rambo and Rocky franchises were banned in the Soviet Union, for unfavorable political and plot reasons, one assumes, they were nevertheless major underground hits in the nation.

Stallone's latest on-camera endeavor also falls slightly foul of Russia's good side. Law prohibits advertising alcoholic products on federal TV channels, meaning the star's commercial will air only on the nation's cable stations come this fall.
