Will Rob Pattz Ever Shoot a Movie Near My House?
DZILLA/bauergriffin.com
Why do so many movies shoot in Vancouver or outside L.A.? Where else are stars shooting outside Hollywood? Can I stalk Robert Pattinson in my hometown?

If runaway production has benefited anyone, it's people of America's breadbasket. Or maybe it's the pinot noir basket. Lo, is that Harrison Ford scowling for the cameras amid the wild wine and coffee sippers of Oregon? It sure will be next month, when Captain Grumptastic joins Brendan Fraser and Keri Russell to shoot his next movie all up in there.
As for Robert Pattinson? Sigh. Fine.
Here's where you'll find him after New Moon wraps filming in Vancouver...
...New York.
He just signed on to star in a new romance called Remember Me, and shooting starts after New Moon finishes up in May. But if you don't live in the Big Apple, here are some more promising places to find a star.
Oregon, New Mexico, the Carolinas, Georgia—all have given California serious competition in recent years when it comes to shooting flicks.
Tax incentives, you understand. It's the same reason why Ugly Betty deserted us and fled to NYC: New York state recently announced it had blown through $500 million in tax breaks for film and TV productions—in less than a year. Ditto with Vancouver, which also offers nice tax breaks to producers who choose to film there.
Tyler Perry recently brought Benjamin Button's Taraji P. Henson to Atlanta to shoot I Can Do Bad All by Myself. Hilary Swank headed to Ann Arbor, Mich., to shoot Betty Ann Waters (filmmakers are being offered up to 42 percent in tax rebates).
Want to know the best way to keep up on where stars are around the country?
Fine.
Here's a tip from your Auntie Answer B!tch: Head over to Variety's website and keep track of current shoots via its film production chart. It updates every week and tells you exactly what films—and what stars—are shooting where.
