Radiohead's Thom Yorke Schools Miley Cyrus & Kanye West on Humility
When Radiohead refused to meet Miley Cyrus and Kanye West at the Grammy Awards last month, the starlet threatened to "ruin" them and the rapper refused to stand for their performance. Now the In Rainbows band is fighting back.
Cyrus kicked off the feudin' during an appearance on the Johnjay and Rich radio show and rambled on for more than six minutes about how the band dissed her after she begged her manager to set up an introduction.
"I'm like, these are the people I really want to meet," she said. "I'd freak out. They're my rock gods. These are the only people that I would cry over…My manager asked and said, 'Miley's really obsessed. And they were like, 'We don't really do that.' "
She continued on in disbelief about the Thom Yorke band's lack of interest in meeting the Hannah Montana, admitting she was so disappointed about the diss, she left the show early.
"I left 'cause I was so upset," she said. "I wasn't going to watch. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone."
The three-time Grammy winners responded by putting the teen in her place…
Grammys Make Early Date for 2010
Break out your calendars, folks. The Grammys are just 10 months away. Can't you feel the excitement!
The Recording Academy today announced that the 52nd installment of its annual trophy fest will be held a bit earlier next year—Jan. 31, 2010 to be exact—and once again take place at Los Angeles' Staples Center and be televised by CBS.
As a result of the move, the eligibility period for next year's prizes will be shortened by one month, encompassing the period from Oct. 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009.
This year, the Grammys were handed out on Feb. 8, with Alison Krauss and Robert Plant's Raising Sand dominating the show.
Girls Next Door's Bridget Marquardt Has a New Man!
Hef who?!
Bridget Marquardt flaunted her new man last night at a Grammy shindig.
Marquardt's been broken up with Hugh Hefner since last fall, and now the Girl Next Door is stepping out with her latest love, director Nicholas Carpenter. "He's funny and sincere and really sweet," Marquardt said at the Russell Simmons and Global Grind soiree at a private mansion in Beverly Hills. "He's so cute!"
Although the buxom blonde and Carpenter met "a long time ago," when he directed her and fellow Girl Next Door star Holly Madison in the indie horror flick The Telling, the romance didn't begin until a couple of months ago. "I'm very happy," Marquardt said.
Meanwhile, across town, Jay-Z held court at Japanese restaurant Katsuya in Hollywood.
Adele's Grammy Weekend: From Band-Aids to Vogue
Forget about telling freshly-minted Grammy winner Adele to break a leg. It's more like, go break a nail.
Great Britain's "Chasing Pavements" hitmaker left people wondering what was up with the big white bandage wrapped around her right thumb during her performance of "Cracklin' Rosie" at this weekend's MusiCares tribute to Neil Diamond.
The reason ain't pretty.

After hitting the Grammys solo, Justin Timberlake hooked up with girlfriend Jessica Biel for some partying and PDA.
The couple hit Grammy winners Kings of Leon's exclusive post-party held at Teddy's, where they held hands and stayed by each other's side all night.
"They were dancing, singing, laughing," says a source, who adds that JT even had a dance-off with a friend.
Newlyweds Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds also attended the bash, sponsored by Belvedere IX. The two were spotted kissing at the soiree, where Ryan, appropriately enough, sipped Belvedere IX-and-cranberry cocktails.
Also attending the party: Katy Perry, Kid Rock and Slash.
Jonas Brothers. Stevie Wonder. Must-Be-Seen-to-Be-Believed TV.
Weekend TV's Big Winner, Besides Coldplay, et al: The Grammys. From 8-11:30 p.m., the show averaged an estimated 19.1 million, CBS said. If the number holds, the show will have grown by nearly 2 million viewers from last year, and will have scored its second-biggest audience of the past five telecasts.
Guess You Had to See It to Believe It: The Jonas Brothers-Stevie Wonder jam aired during the Grammys' most-watched prime-time half-hour, averaging 21.3 million from 9-9:30 p.m., Nielsen estimates showed.
Don't Take It Personally, Neil Diamond: Like many shows, the Grammys petered out as the night wore on. The show's 10:30 p.m. half-hour, featuring performances by Diamond and a John Mayer-assisted Bo Diddley tribute, was its least-watched in prime time, with 17.6 million viewers.
How'd the Grammys Stack Up Against American Idol? Better, but let's not lose our heads.
Kanye West, Ryan Phillippe Party While Rihanna & Chris Brown Are MIA
Kanye West and his new gal-pal were there. Ditto Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish. But there was one couple conspicuously absent from the House of Hype/Island Def Jam post-Grammys soiree at Wolfgang's Steakhouse.
Rihanna (who's part of the Def Jam roster) and Chris Brown.
A source tells E! News that Rihanna was in the hospital recovering from an apparent attack at the hands of Brown. And although she's so dinged up, she's likely to cancel her scheduled Friday concert in Malaysia, "she won't press charges against him because she's so in love with him," the source predicts.
As for Kanye, after performing at the Grammys with Jay-Z and M.I.A., he actually had props for someone other than himself...
Are You Smarter Than a Gossip Columnist? Grammy Edition!
Ton to talk about from the Grammys—Whitney Houston finally showing her face (and seemingly cleansed bod) in public again, Gwyneth Paltrow playing her wifely role and actually showing up, for once, to a Chris Martin event and Jennifer Hudson's teary win and all-too-relevant performance with her backup choir wearing purple ribbons for domestic violence awareness. Quel friggin' ironic, eh, Chris Schmuck Brown?
But the best part was the one true piece o' juice below that somehow managed to escape documentation:

Clip of the Day: The Rock Brings the Pain to the Grammys
The kind of punishment Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson once administered in the wrestling ring—the double leg takedown spinebuster, the running swinging neck breaker, the deadly Samoan drop—pales in comparison to the pain of watching his cringe-inducing Grammy performance.
But then, wrestling is fake, and the Grammys, sadly, are very real—and far less entertaining. No doubt Katy Perry is blushing from sheer embarrassment under her protective layer of caked-on foundation.

A Blink-182 Comeback
Blink and you may have missed it.
All three members of Blink-182 turned up at last night's Grammy Awards and announced plans to rock again.
"We used to play together, and we decided to play music together once again. Blink is back," drummer Travis Barker told the crowd at Los Angeles' Staples Center before the pop-punk trio presented the Grammy for Best Rock Album to Coldplay.
Jennifer Hudson Recovered and Ready for the Road
After her moving performances at the Grammys and the Super Bowl, Jennifer Hudson is about to take the obvious next step in her re-rise to stardom.
The Oscar and newly minted Grammy winner is set to hit the road on a coheadlining tour with R&B singer Robin Thicke. They'll take the stage for the first show on April 2 in Philadelphia, and wrap up five weeks later on May 8 in Houston.
"I'm so grateful—my first Grammy and my first tour," she told People. "It doesn't get better than that."
The Dreamgirl returned to work two weeks ago, following the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew. She's currently amidst a string of public performances and on the cusp of releasing her new video, "If This Isn't Love."

Usher's Wife in "Stable Condition" After Surgery Complications in Brazil

Usher is dealing with a family crisis.
Record mogul Clive Davis shocked guests at his annual star-studded pre-Grammys party Saturday night when he announced that the R&B superstar would not be performing as planned.
Davis, president of Usher's J Records label, announced that the entertainer and his mother phoned earlier to cancel his rehearsal and subsequent performance at the Beverly Hilton because of a "serious illness in the family."
Reps for Usher declined to comment or elaborate on the sad news, but a source close to the 30-year-old denies rumors that his wife, Tameka Raymond, 37, had died following plastic surgery in Brazil.
The couple have been married since August 2007 and have two children. Tameka formerly worked as Usher's stylist.
