Shortly after of your favorite athletes hit the red carpet this evening, WWE legend John Cena will take the stage to host the show that celebrates the sports community.
After Cena was announced as the host of the show back in May he revealed it was an "honor" to be a part of the event. Over the past two months Cena has been preparing for the special day and we can't help but be excited to see the Total Bellas star take the stage.
While we've seen Cena's intensity and strength in the WWE ring, we've also seen the comedic side of the wrestler in movies like Trainwreck and shows like Total Divas. Cena has shown that he can deliver a joke and make everyone laugh, which is why we can't wait to see him take the stage.

1. He Already Knows He's Going to Mess Up:
Cena took to Twitter on Tuesday to send a "thank you" message to the ESPY writers. He wrote, "Huge thank you 2 the #ESPYS writers! Great, creative, hilarious group! Watch me f'up all their A stuff live @ESPYS!"
So we can expect lots of LOL-worthy moments during the show!
2. ESPYs Executive Producer Says We Can Expect a "New Level of Excitement" With Cena as Host:
"John is not only a superstar athlete and entertainer, but also a motivational force who inspires fans across the globe," Maura Mand, the executive producer of the ESPYs, said in a statement. "John approaches all of his endeavors with energy, enthusiasm and passion, so we expect him to bring a new level of excitement to the night's celebration."
3. He's Ready to Take the Audience on a "Fun Ride":
During a recent interview with ABC News Cena revealed he wants the crowd to have a good time. He dished, "I just want them to be like, 'Oh wow, that was a fun ride. The kid did alright.'"
4. He's Ready to Make Fun of the Athletes in the Room:
In the same interview, Cena said that he's already warned the athletes that he's "coming for" them. "I tell them, 'You say whatever you want just remember, I'm coming for you,'" he revealed.
5. Cena Will Also Have Hollywood Stars to Make Fun Of:
While we're so excited to see our favorite sports stars at the ESPYs, they'll also be celebs like Justin Timberlake at the show! So that gives Cena more stars to poke fun of!
6. We'll Likely Get a Sighting of John With His Longtime Girlfriend Nikki Bella:
The ESPYs are such an important event for the world of sports, and with her man hosting we bet Nikki Bella will make an appearance at the show! We hope they walk the red carpet together!
7: The Show Is Live, Anything Can Happen:
When a show is live, there's no editing that can be done. What happens, happens and that makes for some great TV!
