With all the buzz around the "visually eye-popping"* Baz Luhrmann film The Great Gatsby, the studios are clamoring to have him adapt more books you pretended to read in high school. It's really a natural progression; ever since he made Romeo and Juliet you could tell he really had a knack for telling classic stories people vaguely remember in a new and exciting** way. Frankly I won't pretend to read a book anymore if it doesn' have a vampire or wizard in it.
We got a look at some concept art for these reimaginings. I'm preordering the soundtrack now.
Judy Blume is required reading, right? Well it should be. What can John Steinbeck tell us about being a preteen girl facing impending puberty?
*You'll want to pop your eyes out
**Lots of pop music
