Last night's episode of Opening Act made us pull up our cowboy boots to go full on country for Jason Aldean.
The Artist Development team—led by Nigel Lythgoe, Antonina Armato, Jason Derulo, Pete Wentz, Nick Cooper and Martina McBride—had their hands full when it came to finding the perfect fit for the country megastar. But they eventually nailed it when they saw a performance from Kylie Morgan—an aspiring country singer and songwriter from Newcastle, Oklahoma.
Just like that, Olivia Lee was on a plane and off to surprise Kylie. The host caught up with the country girl while mid-performance during a volunteer show. Turns out that one of the causes near and dear to Kylie's heart is anti-bullying programing, and one of her songs, "Phoebe," is actually an anti-bullying anthem.
It came as a big surprise to Kylie then, when she asked the group of kids in front of her if they had any questions and Olivia's hand popped up.
A personalized video message from Aldean, tearful goodbye's and a packed bag later, and Kylie was off to Los Angeles to meet the team who would mold her into an Opening Act.
The biggest issue they found with Kylie? She seemed to be holding back her own story and personality while onstage.
But would she be able to find her inner self come performance time?
Well, you know what helps? A full on country makeover, visit and good luck messgae from country hotties Dierks Bentley—who Kylie named her dog after—and Luke Bryan, and the added bonus of having your band join you for the show.
Kylie nailed the song that the Artist Development team chose for her along with "Phoebe," solidifying herself as a rising star on the Nashville scene.
