Quick Trim Thin is in…big trouble.
Kim Kardashian, along with sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Karadshian Odom, are among those named in a new $5 million class action suit filed in Manhattan court by a small group of dieters who claim that the reality star-endorsed QuickTrim diet pills didn't live up to its lofty weight-loss claims.
The suit was filed by Bursor & Fisher attorney Scott A. Bursor on behalf of four customers who bought and used the pills and, after failing to see their bodies transform into that of the small-screen superstars, called foul on the product, contending that the tablets' slimming prowess must have been overstated by the girls and the company.
As a result, they're now claiming that QuickTrim—the benefits of which were frequently tweeted or otherwise promoted by the sisters—could not possibly be the sole cause of the trio's shrinking (which they regularly attributed to the product), as was shown in a series of promotional shots that showed the women "in a bikini or other revealing attire."
The FDA, meanwhile, has already weighed in on the pills and found that the main ingredient in the weight-loss supplement was an outsized dose of caffeine, which it said "is not a safe or effective treatment for weight control."
The girls have been shilling for QuickTrim since 2009, and their association with the diet pills has resulted in $45 million in sales of the product.
The family has not yet commented on the legal action.
