Holy cleavage alert! During her interview with Ryan Seacrest, Christina Hendricks looked lovely and the twins seemed to be in check, but back on the red carpet they are out of control again. That's too bad, because her custom Johanna Johnson gown has some amazing beadwork, plus she's rocking Mad pretty hair and makeup along with Palladium bling and Louboutin heels. But who's noticing when the girls are so in your face?
Well, one thing we know for sure is, Nina Dobrev is really, really good at wearing dresses! The Vampire Diaries star is drop-dead gorgeous in this Donna Karan gown and Brian Atwood heels and just might be our favorite lady in red of the night—and girlfriend had some fierce competition. But everything is just perfect—the understated jewelry, the fit, her body! And we've got to hand it to her and her rumored boyfriend Ian Somerhalder, they brought so much pretty to tonight's Emmys that they should be invited to every awards show!
Oh hey, Gwyneth Paltrow, nice to see you here and congrats on your win. But, um, not to be rude or anything, but your midriff is showing—if that's even what you call that awkward area. What's that you say? Your Pucci dress is supposed to make you look like a deranged belly dancer? We must have missed the Goop newsletter about this new trend, but we look forward to your future tips about how to get this accessible look for only a few thousand dollars!
Glee's Lea Michele also got the memo about wearing red. The starlet told Ryan Seacrest she wanted to be "supercomfy" tonight. She's certainly got that down in this fitted Marchesa with cute rosette sleeves, but we were expecting the actress to bring more awesome to the red carpet, not just fine and safe. It's the biggest game of the year and this fashionista decides to sit on the sidelines? Not cool.
We can usually count on Julianna Margulies to wear something classically beautiful and look great but not necessarily noteworthy. But tonight, she was like, "No way! I am finally going to win my Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy and I am going to wear something crazy for my big moment." Hence, the out-of-this-world Armani Privé gown with Palladium earrings that may have worked for Anne Hathaway and Lady Gaga before, but just seems to wash out The Good Wife actress when she should be glowing.
She's a presenter at the Emmys, so Katie Holmes is going for that "totally not trying too hard," effortless glam look in this blue Calvin Klein gown. But the belt isn't really working here, the top half doesn't fit well and her messy bun could be the worst hair of the night. Sorry, Katie, but this is way short on glitz or glam—it's the Emmy Awards, you should've tried a little harder.
Take note, Katie Holmes: This is how you do effortless glam right! Kate Winslet looks smashing in a va-va-voom red Elie Saab gown flaunting some pretty, tasteful cleavage. With her blinging bracelet, drop earrings and glamorous wavy updo, this English rose is is a blooming beauty.
Awww, we are crushing on pretty-in-pink Jayma Mays. Her Zuhair Murad gown is one of those love-it-or-hate-it dresses, but we're totes hearting the delicate lace top, frothy skirt and pop of hot-pink lip worn with Brian Atwood heels. On a night where so many stars are sticking to body-hugging gowns, her Good Witch of the North tiered dress definitely stands out. It's a sweet dress for a sweet lady!
Well, at least Heidi Klum covered herself up this year (although the same cannot be said for Seal, who had his shirt unbuttoned to his navel)! Unfortunately, it was with coral Christian Siriano foraged from the sea. While this look is interesting and different, and we like that Heidi is still supporting her Project Runway winners, there's just something that makes us long for the days when the supermodel oozed sophistication on the red carpet.
Whaddya know! Cute, quirky Zooey Deschanel looks cute and quirky! The New Girl star went all Valentine's Day in a pink Monique Lhuillier gown with red belt, Stuart Weitzman pumps, Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and big '60s hair. And just in case the look wasn't precious enough, Zooey made sure to point out to Ryan Seacrest that the dress even had pockets. Now if only she had also brought a kitten to really seal the cute-overload deal.
Whoa, what happened to Glee's adorable Dianna Agron?! This draped, electric-blue Roksanda Ilincic gown and matronly hairdo is adding years to the sweet young starlet, and the wrinkled skirt is a bummer, too. And judging by the look on her face, Dianna doesn't seem to be thrilled about it, either. Better luck at the next awards show!
Dios mio! That Vera Wang (or "Wong," as Sofia Vergara likes to pronounce it, worn with Stuart Weitzman heels) sure knows how to make a dress that fits a woman's body. And the Modern Family star knows how to work it! Only problem is, Sofia doesn't know when to say no to gaudy earrings and drag queen makeup that makes her looks like a Miss Universe contestant. But hey, at least she stuck to her theme and nailed the pageant wave!
