Listen, we all get the appeal of hair extensions. In just a few hours (and for a small fortune) you can give your hair the length and volume you only dreamed possible.  But just like anything else in the world of beauty (think Botox and fillers), we constantly see celebs over doing it—going way past the point of looking "naturally enhanced" to "is she kidding?" territory.

Poor Selena Gomez is the latest victim—showing up to an iHeartRadio Radio event looking like curly hair extensions had attacked her in the middle of the night and were creeping down her head towards her toes like hungry serpents.

Such a shame to cover up such a pretty face… How can we focus on her subtly smoked eyes and on-trend bubble gum pink lips when those scary extensions could gobble them up at any moment?

Beauty Bailout: We just don't get it. Selena has gorgeous wavy hair! She could easily transform her natural tresses into a cascade of curls. She should start by washing and conditioning her hair with sulfate-free anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner like Redken Curvaceous Cream Shampoo and Redken Curvaceous Conditioner.

Then, she should squeeze her hair with paper towels instead of towel drying.  Towel drying hair roughs up the cuticle and makes hair much more prone to frizz. No bueno!

Selena should apply a leave-in conditioning curl treatment like Sally Hershberger Curls Curvaceous Curl Perfection from mid-shaft to ends. Note: We suggest a cream-based conditioning treatment for Selena since her hair isn't thick. If your hair is more thick and textured, instead opt for hydrating hair oil.

If Selena wants to wear her curls in a more undone, tousled look she should try a texturing product that will give her hair that sexy beach look with soft hold and matte finish like Ouidad Wave Create Texture Taffy. If she's all about the ringlets, she should loosely scrunch in a hydrating curl-defining air mousse like Oribe Curl Shaping Mousse, which will create long-lasting soft ringlets and battle frizz. Bonus: All of Oribe's products contain a delicious custom scent designed by Tom Ford.  Yum.

Whether she's going loose tousled or tight ringlets, our songstress's next step is to flip her head and use a diffuser to dry her hair.   Once her tresses are dry, she can lock in the style and prevent frizz by smoothing a finish cream or serum through hair like John Frieda Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Cream.

We really hope Selena heeds our warning and gets rid of those ridiculous "is she kidding?" extensions. She has such a cute face, we would hate to see it fall victim to the Hair-Nado, which is known to take out everything in sight.
