There was no way Emily VanCamp was going to suffer through a hot and humid New York City night in a down ‘do and melt-worthy makeup. Of course her decision may have to do with the fact that she chose to wear a ¾ long sleeve dress on a sticky night and didn't want to add heat to the fire, but we'll leave that to Joan and team to dissect.

Regardless of what made the Revenge star pull her hair up into a braided topknot and opt for light makeup with a bright fuchsia statement lip, the look had "hot summer trends" written all over it.

The best thing about this look is that it's super easy to achieve at home. Wait… actually that's second best. The best thing about this look is you'll keep your hair off your neck and your makeup won't slide off your face in the summer heat.

Get the Look: To recreate Emily braided topknot, you're going to want to skip washing your hair that day. The texture and oils of day-old hair will help keep the style in place and minimize flyaways and fuzzies.

Next, brush or finger comb your hair into a super-high ponytail and secure with a thin elastic. Tightly braid your ponytail and secure the end with another thin elastic.

Then, wrap the braid tightly around itself and secure with hairpins like Bunheads 2" pins (it's what the ballerinas use). To make the topknot look a little less tight (and to avoid headaches), use your fingers to pull it out a little and give it some volume.  Finish by spraying with an anti-humidity hairspray.

Once your topknot is in place, it's time to move on to the breezy makeup. Start by evening out your skin and masking any redness with a natural coverage oil-free B.B. Cream like Boscia B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++. Next, cover any darkness under the eyes and any blemishes or redness with concealer. Then, add some peachy blush to the apples of your cheeks.

For the eyes, use a waterproof black eyeliner pencil like MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes in Matte Black to draw a thin line along the upper lash line and then smudge into the lash line. Use the same eyeliner pencil to color in your lower waterline.  Finish the eyes with 2 coats of waterproof mascara like Clinique Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula.

Complete this summery look by slicking on a creamy long-lasting fuchsia lipstick like Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Vigne. Hint: To ensure your pink lip lasts through several glasses of wine, first line the entire lip with a nude pencil. Then use a lip brush to apply the lipstick, blot, and then apply a second coat.

We hope that whether Emily wears long sleeves or short sleeves this summer she'll keep rocking this delicious summer look. After all, we don't want to risk not liking her look and ending up on her Revenge list.
