When we think of the CMT Awards, we think of big hair and frosty makeup. So you can imagine how pleased we were when Sheryl Crow hit the red carpet rocking an age-appropriate, classically black-lined eye, creamy nude lip and textured updo.

Contrasting liquid black eyeliner with a matte white eye shadow can make any eye color pop. Notice how Sheryl skipped the shimmer altogether? This rocker knows that nothing draws attention to signs of aging like frosty or shimmering shadows.

We're also all about her textured updo. If you have curly hair, you've surely fallen victim to a pre-updo blowout, thinking your ‘do would stay smooth all night long. Wrong. Two hours into the evening and your blowout looks like a cat hairball! Sheryl must've learned this lesson, because instead of forcing her gorgeous curls into submission, she opted for a voluminous updo that showcased the texture of her curls.

Speaking of perfect, we have no idea where this rock goddess found the fountain of youth—or if she just has insanely good genes—but her skin is absolutely flawless and she's (wait for it...) 51!

Get the Look: The best thing about this flattering beauty look is that it's super-easy to achieve. First, cover your eyelids in primer or concealer to ensure the eye shadow and eyeliner adhere and last all night long.

Then, apply a matte white shadow like Make Up For Ever Eye Shadow in White 0 to the lids with a dense flat eye shadow brush like bareMinerals Full Tapered Shadow Brush.

Next, use a black liquid eyeliner like NYX Cosmetics Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner to carefully draw a line from the outer corner towards your inner eye. Once your line passes your eyeball, start tapering the line thinner and thinner, stopping where your lashes end.

Complete this classic eye look by using two coats of a defining mascara such as Lancome Définicils - High Definition Mascara. If your lashes tend to get clumpy, comb them with a disposable mascara wand to catch any rogue clumps.

Finally, to score Cheryl's creamy nude lips, try a moisturizing lipstick like Clinique Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick. Hint: To ensure your lipstick doesn't come off after the first glass of wine, fill in the entire lip with a nude lip pencil like Becca Nude Liner Plump & Define Lip Pencil. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick, then blot with a tissue and apply a second coat.

We love that this 51-year-old rock goddess embraced her inner classic movie star instead of the CMT's usual dramatic glitz and glam. And, judging by her skin, we're assuming that even though the singer croons that she wants to "Soak Up the Sun," she's clearing not doing it without a big hat and SPF 50+.

That might be the lesson to take from today, ladies: If you want to look this good at 51, follow Ms. Crow's lead and slather yourselves in sunscreen or your day at the beach will turn into your "Favorite Mistake."
