Some gals get their dresses from a boutique or a designer.

Then there's Karolina Kurkova, who prefers to strip-mine her gowns straight from the bowels of coal country.

Made from only the finest crude oil and couture slag, this Roberto Cavalli mermaid gown hugged the supermodel with slick precision as she slid around the Cannes premiere of the Brad Pitt flick Killing Them Softly.

The movie is a crime drama with political overtones—it's not about fracking or blood diamonds, but the Czech model didn't get the memo and dressed in anthracite anyway.

And about those diamonds...She wisely kept the jewelry to a minimum with Bulgari on her wrist and ears, but not her neck or fingers. And the makeup works, too—the dark lips keep the former Victoria's Secret Angel from being swallowed up by all that shiny tar.

The Fashion Police May 23 Poll
Is this Roberto Cavalli gown a Cannes must have or fashion flop?
